Campaign for Borders Rail

Following months of delays, the official signing of the transfer of responsibility for the construction of the Borders Railway from Transport Scotland to Network Rail will take place on Tuesday 6th November at the National Mining Museum in Newtongrange. The invitation to the event continued “Keith Brown MSP, the Minister for Transport and Veterans, will be in attendance and will undertake the handover of the project to Network Rail. Once the signing is complete, Network Rail will officially begin the construction phase of the Borders Railway project……..” .

No details were given regarding the timescale but such information should have already appeared in the media by the time you read this. From what I hear on the grapevine, it seems possible that construction will be complete by the Spring of 2015. However there will then be a period of driver training before public services commence, putting Stow back on the rail network after a gap of over 46 years.
