Fresh Start Borders

We recently had a presentation from Fresh Start Borders who came to talk to us about homelessness in the Scottish Borders. Fresh Start is a local charity based in Selkirk which co-ordinates donations of household goods from the public and distributes these as packs to people who are moving into their first permanent home. Set up three and a half years ago, the charity has recently completed its 650th pack, showing the scale of the homelessness issue in our own area.

The children recognised this as an opportunity to recycle and are keen to do something to help. They have suggested that we could collect items for the packs and so as a school, we are inviting donations of goods to be handed in to the school. Items such as duvet covers, sheets, towels, pots, cutlery, crockery, casserole dishes and kitchen utensils are all useful and welcomed. These items do not need to be new, just in good useable condition. We regret no electrical equipment can be accepted, however small items like toilet rolls, soap and kitchen towels/cloths are welcome additions to the packs too.

If anyone in the Stow community would like to HELP WITH OUR APPEAL please bring items and any donations along to the school as soon as possible and before the end of February. Thank you!
